DURANTION: 8 DAYS (SPLIT INTO CLASSES)

PART 1 (2 DAYS) – RECEIVE STORE & ISSUE GOODS:

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD:

A person credited with this unit standard can ensure that administrative and security procedures and hygiene standards are complied with when receiving, storing and issuing goods in the workplace.

ON COMPLETION OF THIS UNIT STANDARD, THE LEARNER WILL UNDERSTAND & BE ABLE TO:

  • Explain the relevant legislation and codes of practice relating to storage conditions and handling of goods.
  • Describe and implement the company’s stock control procedure.
  • Describe and use the company’s recording systems for the receipt and issue of goods.
  • Handle and store stock according to legislation and best practice.


PART 2 (3 DAYS) – MAINTAIN STOCK BALANCES:

PURPOSE OF THIS UNIT STANDARD:

This unit standard is aimed at people who have to maintain stock balances in a DC/Warehouse environment.

They will need to access and interpret information on stock record-keeping systems, analyse and monitor stock movement, initiate and control stock counts and record details on record-keeping systems in order to maintain and update stock balances.

ON COMPLETION OF THIS UNIT STANDARD, THE LEARNER WILL UNDERSTAND & BE ABLE TO:

  • Explain the financial impact of stock on the business.
  • Explain stock flow through the Distribution Centre/Warehouse.
  • Interpret information on the stock management system.
  • Solve discrepancies between actual stock and stock reports.
  • Initiate and control stock counts.


PART 3 (3 DAYS
) – COUNT STOCK FOR STOCK-TAKE:

PURPOSE OF THIS UNIT STANDARD:

This unit standard is intended for persons working in the retail and wholesale sector who count stock for either general stock counts or for a financial stocktake.

Persons credited with this unit standard will accurately count stock following all organisational procedures.

ON COMPLETION OF THIS UNIT STANDARD, THE LEARNER WILL UNDERSTAND & BE ABLE TO:

  • Prepare for stock count.
  • Count stock.
  • Perform post stock count housekeeping functions.
